U5-U10 (pre-K though 4th grade) soccer registration is now live! All registration is on-line. If your child played in the Fall, s/he willl be in the same age group, regardless of whether a birthday has passed. (Soccer ages are set once per academic year.) If you sign up on time, your spot on your old team is reserved.
U11-U14 registration is also now open. The deadline for registration is Feb 1. All registration is on line. (New players need to contact Gary Eyles at 515-360-5117, rather than just sign up.)

Referee Certification Class Set for March 2-3 in Ames
A referee certification class will be held March 2-3 at Stone Brooke Community Center in Ames. Visit iowareferees.org and click on Calendar to sign up. Students will be asked to do some online reading in advance in order to focus the class on the parts that new referees need the most help with. Please sign up AT LEAST a week in advance in order to get this material. Ames Soccer Club will reimburse half the fee to any of our members or their parents.

Ames Soccer Club got in on the ground floor with the Alliance4All program advocating sportsmanship on the part of players, parents, referees, and coaches. Congrats to U12 and U13 boys!
The Ames U12 Navy boys won the championship at Bettendorf on Kicks from the Mark in a rematch of pool play to a team that beat them 1-0. Both matches were very fast and intense. The U13 Boys also had an excellent result, placing second, in a bracket determined by full round-robin play.
Congrats to U11 Boys Gold Team!
The Ames U11 Boys Gold team finished as runners-up at the Johnston Fall Soccer Fest October 1-2nd. The team advanced to the final by winning all three games in their pool against teams from Urbandale, Johnston and West Des Moines. This was the team’s first tournament together and they really progressed throughout the weekend getting stronger each game. Congratulations boys.
Shelly Lynch named recipient of "Joe Merchant Volunteer of the Year" award
Ames Soccer Club is proud to name Shelly Lynch its recipient of the Joe Merchant Volunteer of the Year award. She put in countless hours in her role as Director of Volunteers and a member of the board of directors, particularly during the months of February and March with out winter indoor tournaments. She was a critical person in ensuring the success of these events by securing the volunteer so them run them. She was also quite active herself as field marshall, on site coordinator, and working the concession area. She does it all! Shelly is a very active member of our club who balances her club commitments with a very busy family life. We are extremely fortunate to have someone as dedicated and detail oriented as Shelly working with us.

Used Uniform Market (all ages)
Duck Worth Wearing is our new spot for used uniform exchange (all ages). Have jerseys or shorts that are too small? Need a larger jersey? Check out Duck Worth Wearing. It's a consignment shop, where they will sell the item for 50-60% of the retail price and the previous owner gets 40% of the sale price. Bring your used items in anytime throughout the year. Our local U5-U10 games are played in a local league we administer, the Central Iowa Soccer League (CISL, pronounced "sizzle"). Game schedules, rules, directions to other fields, and all that stuff are posted on the league web site: www.cisleague.org.
